SPECIALTIES

  • ATTACHMENT & relationships

While there are many aspects to relationships, attachment can be a resource for understanding you and others in all types of relationships. Attachment involves the emotional connections you formed with your primary caregivers as a child, and past/current friends, parners, coworkers, your own children, etc. Attachment can also be fluid, and one may experience multiple different attachment styles across different relationships. This can occur as attachment is based on safety in the emotional connection to another person.

  • Trauma

There are many forms of trauma that can occur at different times in our life. Folks may present with symptoms of PTSD such as reocurring flashbacks, nightmares, internal/external triggers, avoidance of triggers, and avoidance of memories, places, or people related or unrelated to the traumatic event. Additionally, intense anxiety/fear/hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after a traumatic event occurs. I have experience and specialty in treating developmental/attachment/complex trauma, sexual trauma, medical trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, and complicated loss/grief.

  • COMPLEX TRAUMA

Many individuals experience symptoms associated with multiple painful and traumatic events, especially when this has taken place in childhood. We are able to overcome these symptoms through increasing the connection of brain and body to regulate the nervous system. I truly believe that we can navigating the process of grief and work on healing together. I specialize in treating PTSD, CPTSD, and DID.

  • DISSOCIATION

Dissociation is on a continuum ranging from difficulty remembering important information (more than ordinary forgetfulness or not better explained by other medical reasons) to feeling detached from one's body and/or environment. At times, this can be missed in therapy and it is important to be assessed for when it comes to trauma treatment. Dissociation and dissociative disorders are something I specifically assess for and treat in each client due to the wide range of presentations dissociation can have.
