EMDR THERAPY
Are you feeling stuck and like nobody seems to get it?
Are you struggling with feeling like you’re not good enough?
or Are you waking up day to day hoping to feel differently?
You may benefit from EMDR if…
-
Your emotions feel painful or intense
-
You experience or have experienced chronic stress or trauma
-
You feel like a failure or like you're not good enough
HOW IT WORKS
EMDR therapy aims to help individuals lower the stress of emotions, traumatic memories, or disturbing experiences. EMDR increases the flexibility of negative thoughts about yourself and encourages the development of healthier coping strategies.
The client recalls the traumatic memory, focuses on body sensations associated with the memory, all while engaging in bilateral stimulation (BLS).
BLS facilitates the brain's natural healing ability
Some examples of BLS are: eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones.
Emotional intensity associated with the memory decreases over repeated sets of BLS.
Adaptive beliefs and emotions are brought forward.
This often results in symptom relief and emotional healing.

Rest assured, there is not a way that you as a client can do EMDR “badly”! Your therapist is present throughout the whole process. However, there may be times when you get stuck and your therapist will be there to guide you through it. This is normal!
